Yes. Every natural cowhide has its own unique shape, markings, color variations, and texture.
Even hides with similar colors or patterns will have natural differences, which means no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
How do I choose the right size?
Start by thinking about where the hide will be placed and how much of its natural outline you want visible.
Larger hides work well beneath coffee tables, in sitting areas, beside sofas, or layered over a larger neutral rug. Smaller hides can work well beside a bed, in an office, near an entryway, or in a reading corner.

Where are your cowhides sourced?
Our cowhides are sourced from Argentina and individually selected for Red River Hides. Each piece is then curated and offered from Texas.
Are your cowhides real?
Yes. Every rug we offer is made from genuine cowhide. Natural variations in color, shape, texture, and markings are part of what makes each hide one of a kind.
Will my cowhide have natural markings or imperfections?
Yes. Because cowhide is a natural material, variations in color, texture, shape, and markings are expected. Small scars or other natural characteristics are part of each hide’s individual character and are shown as clearly as possible in the product photos.
Shipping & Delivery
How will my cowhide be packaged?
Your cowhide will be carefully inspected, folded, and securely packaged for shipping. Folding protects the hide in transit and will not permanently affect its shape.
Will my cowhide have creases after shipping?
Light creases may be visible when your hide is first unfolded. This is normal after shipping and they should gradually relax once the hide is laid flat.
When will my order ship?
Orders are typically processed and shipped within 1-3 business days. Once your hide is on its way, you will receive an email with tracking information.

How do I clean a cowhide rug?
For routine care, shake the hide outdoors or gently vacuum it. Blot spills promptly with a clean, damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap when needed. Do not soak the hide, machine wash it, or use harsh cleaning products.
Can I vacuum a cowhide rug?
Yes. Use gentle suction and vacuum in the direction of the hair. Avoid beater bars, rotating brushes, and high-powered attachments that may pull or damage the hair.
How do I flatten a curled edge?
Gently roll the curled area in the opposite direction, then lay the hide flat and place a clean, heavy object over the edge for a short period. Avoid irons, hair dryers, steam cleaners, or other direct heat, as these can damage the hide.
Orders & Returns
What is your return policy?
We accept returns requested within 14 days of delivery. The hide must be unused, unaltered, and returned in its original condition. Customers are responsible for return shipping unless the item arrived damaged or an incorrect item was sent. Please review our full Returns Policy before beginning a return.
What if my order arrives damaged?
Please contact us within 48 hours of delivery and include your order number along with clear photographs of the hide, packaging, and shipping label. Keep all original packaging while we review the issue and determine the appropriate next step.
